Safety & Protection

Are you concerned about your health and safety during this difficult time? Not to worry- our strict and thorough hygiene standards will protect you while you receive top-notch treatment.

We follow the highest level in safety and hygiene standards

We are a Slow Dentistry® Certified clinic in Durban, a philosophy which guarantees the maximum protection and safety of all our patients.

Why do we practice slow dentistry?

We believe it is important to take the time to disinfect, clean, perform tests, prepare treatments, and interact with patients. We have also invested time in creating a safe and comfortable space, so you have nothing to worry about when having your treatment.

We take hygiene very seriously

We disinfect everything several times a day, no matter how long it takes. This includes offices, doors, equipment, surfaces, floor, footwear and clothing. Stringent hygiene is the cornerstone of Slow Dentistry®. It is how we ensure your safety.

How we keep our patients and staff safe

ALL SURFACES ARE CLEANED REGULARLY

We regularly clean all surfaces, including the floor to non-clinical areas. Door handles and bathrooms are cleaned with a strong antiviral, antibacterial detergent. Cleaning is always done from top to bottom- meaning- first, the higher surfaces are cleaned and then the floor.

CLEAN HANDS

All our technical and non-technical staff washes their hands regularly, for a minimum of 20 seconds. This includes washing at regular intervals and after each break. A special hand sanitiser is available at the entrance of the clinic, and in every office, reception, bathroom and technical rooms.

DESIGNATED AREA FOR THE TECHNICAL STAFF

We have an area that is reserved exclusively for the circulation of staff from the clinic’s technical team, done only with appropriate footwear and clothing. Our staff do not wear technical clothing and footwear outside the clinical facilities.

INTRAORAL HYGIENIZATION BEFORE TREATMENT

Before any intraoral treatment or observation, the patient rinses with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) for 1 minute and then with chlorhexidine for another minute.

ALL PACKAGES ARE DISINFECTED

All packages are cleaned and disinfected before being transported to the “clean” area – both the box and its contents.

OUR OFFICES ARE CLEANED AND DISINFECTED

Each office is properly disinfected and cleaned in between appointments, according to global hygiene and safety recommendations. Once applied, we let the cleaning products sit for a minimum of 10 minutes, so their bactericidal, fungicidal and antiviral effects get to work.

SAFE AND PAIN-FREE PROCEDURES

We use advanced technologies to provide a pain-free dental experience. We make use of the WAND- a digital tool which administers pain-free injections. During the consultation process, we thoroughly explain all treatments and procedures to our patients - ensuring that they are making informed decisions regarding their health. We also draw up specific consent forms so we can be sure you are aware of any potential risks and complications.

STRICT SOCIAL DISTANCING

When patients arrive at the reception, handshakes are avoided, and we ask that hands are disinfected. Our friendly team greets everyone without any physical contact to avoid risks. The temperature of our employees is checked regularly so that they can be excused if there is any change in their health.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE GEAR

The clinical team uses disposable caps and gowns, protective visors, glasses, and masks during all treatments. For added safety, personal protective equipment is also available for our patients.
